There's nothing as beautiful as a happy smile...

Give a child or teenager in your life something to smile about: an appointment with Dr. Rhea Haugseth, the fun dentist kids love --- and parents trust.  They'll receive a personal tour of our office, and they'll meet the friendly staff that wants to help them build healthy, beautiful smiles.

What to Expect
Our office, as well as the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, recommends that your child visit the dentist by his/her 1st birthday.  The
ADA also endorses the Age 1 visit to establish a "Dental Home"
.  You can make the first visit to the dentist enjoyable and positive. We believe that a child's first visit to our dental office should be fun, educational and most of all, make a positive impression.  This approach allows us to provide the highest level of dental care for your child and spend as much time with you as needed to answer your questions.  Your child should be informed of the visit and told that Dr. Haugseth, and her staff will explain all procedures and answer any questions. The less to-do concerning the visit, the better.

"I like all the neat stuff hanging from the ceiling."
          Traci

It is best if you refrain from using words around your child that might cause unnecessary fear, such as "needle", "shot", "pull", "drill" or "hurt". The office makes a practice of using words that convey the same message, but are pleasant and non-frightening to the child.

We invite you to stay with your child during the initial examination. During future appointments, we suggest you allow your child to accompany our staff through the dental experience. We can usually establish a closer rapport with your child when you are not present. Our purpose is to gain your child's confidence and overcome apprehension. For the safety and privacy of all patients, other children who are not being treated should remain in the reception room with a supervising adult.

At the FIRST VISIT - The following services will be rendered:

1. Consultation with parents and child about importance of diet, home care of mouth, and fluorides.

2. Demonstration of brushing and flossing of your child’s teeth.

3. A thorough dental examination, oral cancer screening, facial growth and development evaluation.

4. An oral prophylaxis (cleaning) and fluoride treatment as needed.

5. Consultation about your child’s dental needs and how we expect to meet those needs.

6. Arrange appointment schedule and payment plan (if needed) for treatment.

7. If x-rays of the teeth and jaws are necessary - an additional fee will be quoted.

We look forward to working with you to build a lifetime of good dental habits for your children!

For your convenience... Prior to your "initial exam", we have provided a New Patient Health History Form for you to complete and bring with you on your first visit to our practice.  You may also choose to mail or fax it to our office before your first scheduled appointment.
